A team of highly specialised, dermatology trained doctors are able to offer advanced treatments for skin diseases, skin cancer and melanoma thanks to Oxford Day Surgery and Dermatology.
The doctors on our team have all undertaken advanced training in Australia and internationally to ensure their knowledge and technical excellence. The skills harnessed by our team are highly sought after. Oxford Day Surgery and Dermatology trains interstate and international dermatologists in a Fellowship in Mohs Surgery right here in the day surgery facility. In 2010/2011 Dr Yee Tai, a dermatologist from Melbourne is undertaking the advanced training Fellowship in Mohs surgery.
The Oxford Day Surgery and Dermatology medical team is headed by two Consultant Dermatologists, Clinical Associate Professor Carl Vinciullo and Dr Harvey Smith. Both doctors are very experienced dermatologists who have a special interest in skin cancer and melanoma management and Mohs surgery.
Clinical Associate Professor Carl Vinciullo
A University of WA medical graduate he became a Fellow of The Australasian College of Dermatologists (F.A.C.D.) in 1986 and completed a Fellowship in Mohs surgery at the New York University Medical Centre in New York from 1986-1988. Since 1988 he has been in private practice as a dermatologist and Mohs surgeon as well as a Visiting Consultant Dermatologist at Royal Perth Hospital and is an adjunct Clinical Associate Professor at the University of WA where he teaches medical students.
He is an active member of the Australasian College of Dermatologists having served on a wide range of committees and Boards. Currently he is treasurer and Chairman of the College’s audit committee and a Director of the Board of management. His professional Fellowships include the American College of Mohs Surgery and the American Academy of Dermatology. A/Prof Vinciullo is a regular invited speaker at local national and international meetings.
Dr Harvey Smith
A graduate of the University of London he is a Fellow of the Australasian College of Dermatologists. In 2001 he completed a Fellowship in Mohs Surgery in Perth and has become a Fellow of the American College of Mohs Surgery. He has practiced in the UK from 2002 until 2009 specialising in Mohs surgery and facial skin cancer surgery before returning to Perth in 2009. He has an MD from the University of London based on research achievements.
Dr Todd Gunson
A graduate of the University of Auckland he completed his Fellowship in Mohs Surgery at Oxford Day Surgery in 2010 and has joined the practice as an Associate. He has completed all the training requirements for Fellowship of both the Australasian College of Dermatologists and the Royal Australasian College of Physicians and for membership of the American College of Mohs Surgery. He has worked in New Zealand and the UK.
The Rest of the Team
This consist of a dedicated and professional team including two Practice Managers, Clinical Nurse Manager, receptionists, nurses, laboratory technicians and sterilising personnel. All are involved in an important and essential way in the care of our patients. Our nurses undertake all wound care following surgery and are highly skilled and trained in this area.
